
Inauguration of the Operation of 50 MW of the 100 MW Rental Gas Engine Power Plant (PLTMG) in Batam
 
														Batam, October 24, 2025 – PT Maxpower Indonesia (“Maxpower”) successfully held the inauguration of the commercial operation of 50 MW of the 100 MW rental Gas Engine Power Plant (PLTMG), located across two sites in Sagulung and Sekupang, Batam (“the Project”), on Friday, 24 October 2025. The inauguration ceremony was centralized at the Sekupang PLTMG site.
The event, held in a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere, marked the next milestone in the implementation of the Project, which will significantly contribute to strengthening energy supply in Batam and its surrounding areas. Also present at the inauguration were representatives from PLN Batam and Maxpower’s strategic partners in Batam.
Remarks by Maxpower Managing Director, Mr. Priandika Permana
In his remarks, Mr. Priandika Permana, Managing Director of Maxpower, conveyed that the 100 MW PLTMG Batam Project is the result of strong synergy between PLN Batam and Maxpower. He emphasized that Maxpower is committed not only to providing power generation facilities, but also to ensuring that every process meets the highest standards of quality and safety, supported by competent human resources and proven technology.
The commencement of this first 50 MW operation represents Maxpower’s tangible contribution to supporting Batam’s electricity system to become stronger and more stable, particularly in sustaining economic growth and the increasing industrial needs of the region, he added.
Remarks by PLN Batam Director of Operations, Mr. Dinda Alamsyah
Representing PLN Batam, Director of Operations, Mr. Dinda Alamsyah, expressed his appreciation for the achievement of this important milestone. He explained that out of the total planned capacity of 100 MW, the first 50 MW is now officially in operation, consisting of 40 MW in Sekupang and 10 MW in Sagulung.
“Alhamdulillah, today we have reached a significant milestone with the operation of 50 MW from the total target of the 100 MW Rental PLTMG in Batam. This accomplishment is the result of hard work and solid collaboration between PLN Batam, Maxpower, and all partners,” stated Mr. Dinda.
The Project commenced with a groundbreaking ceremony on 16 January 2025 and was initially targeted for full completion in February 2026. However, Mr. Dinda highlighted that with strong synergy and hard work from all teams, Maxpower is now targeting full operation of the 100 MW ahead of schedule, by December 2025.
“We are optimistic that the 100 MW can be completed earlier than the original plan. This reflects PLN Batam’s commitment to continuously provide reliable and efficient energy for Batam, which is rapidly growing as an industrial and data center hub,” he added.
Siren Activation Ceremony
The highlight of the event was the inauguration ceremony marked by a joint siren activation by the Maxpower Board of Directors—Mr. Priandika Permana, Mr. Dandy Prihandono, and Mr. Noor Wahyu Hidayat—together with a representative of the PLN Batam Board of Commissioners, Mr. Usep R.S., and PLN Batam Director of Operations, Mr. Dinda Alamsyah.
Closing
As a symbol of gratitude and joy for the commencement of the 50 MW PLTMG operation, and also as part of the National Electricity Day celebration, Maxpower and PLN Batam symbolically distributed 2,500 food packages to the surrounding communities near the Sekupang PLTMG site, as a form of social responsibility and appreciation for this achievement.
