Jakarta, April 30, 2025 – PT Maxpower Indonesia successfully conducted a Knowledge Sharing session titled “Powering the Future: Maxpower’s Story, Engines, & Industry” on April 30, 2025. The session featured Mr. Nasser Iskandar, a Consultant at PT Maxpower Indonesia, as the keynote speaker. The forum provided an important platform to share insights into Maxpower’s journey, the evolution of its gas engine technologies, and the broader outlook of the power generation industry.
In his presentation, Mr. Nasser discussed strategic approaches and current challenges in power generation using gas engine technology. He highlighted that electricity supply can be delivered through various contractual models, including Rental (BOO), BOOT, and Independent Power Producer (IPP). For short-term requirements (1–2 years), high-speed gas engines are particularly well-suited due to their rapid construction timeline of approximately 3–4 months. For longer-term projects (five years or more), medium-speed gas engines (750 rpm) offer greater efficiency and reliability, with a typical construction period of 10–12 months.
At present, an estimated 60–70% of Maxpower Indonesia’s gas engine capacity is leased by PT PLN Batam under contracts lasting between three to five years, supporting the region’s electricity needs. However, the continuity of these agreements is contingent on the future availability of alternative power sources, for instance, interconnections via submarine cables from Sumatra Island or excess power from new power plants under development in the WILUS region.
Mr. Nasser also emphasized the importance of maintaining competitiveness in the power rental market. According to him, key success factors include rapid deployment capabilities, reliable engine technology, competitive rental pricing, and flexible contractual terms—all of which are essential to securing a strong market presence and building long-term client partnerships.
This Knowledge Sharing session reaffirms PT Maxpower Indonesia’s commitment to promoting knowledge exchange, enhancing internal capabilities, and actively contributing to the development of the national energy sector. With more than two decades of experience in delivering natural gas-based power solutions, Maxpower continues to innovate in response to the growing demand for fast, efficient, and sustainable energy across the region.
