Maxpower Cogindo Batam Participated with PLN Batam in Mangrove Planting and Beach Cleanup to commemorate World Environment Day 2023

[Batam, Kepulauan Riau (Kepri) – June 19, 2023] – Maxpower Cogindo Batam, a joint venture company between PT Maxpower Indonesia and PT Cogindo DayaBersama, proudly participated in a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative organized by PT PLN Batam. The event involved the planting of 500 mangrove seedlings and a beach cleanup along the coast of the Kampung Terih Tourism Village in Nongsa, Batam, Kepulauan Riau (Kepri).
This activity is a testament to the commitment of PT PLN Batam and its affiliates to commemorate World Environment Day, which falls on June 5, 2023. Moreover, it showcases PLN Batam’s dedication to supporting environmental preservation and climate change mitigation through mangrove planting programs.
The event saw the presence and active participation of Maxpower Cogindo Batam and other Independent Power Producer (IPP), the PLN cycling community, as well as local communities. Together, they planted mangrove seedlings and regularly cleaned the coastline to mitigate climate change and support the achievement of net-zero emissions (NZE) by 2060. In addition to mangrove planting, saplings of mango trees were also planted around the Kampung Terih community hall. This initiative demonstrates PLN Batam’s commitment, along with its affiliates, to the principles of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in fostering sustainable economic development.
The purpose of this event is to nurture the growth of the planted mangrove seedlings, thereby safeguarding the coastal ecosystem and fostering a strong bond between Maxpower Cogindo Batam, PLN Batam, and its affiliates.

It is dedicated to supporting the government’s efforts in achieving equitable electricity supply for Batam City, Kepulauan Riau Province, through a 30 MW gas-fired power plant build in Baloi, Batam area.
