Maxpower Holds Health Talk on Malaria Prevention as Part of National OHS Month at Sorong Site
Sorong, Papua, 21 January 2026 – PT Maxpower Indonesia (“Maxpower”) held a Health Talk on malaria prevention and management on Tuesday, 21 January 2026, at the Sorong Site. The activity was part of the National Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Month commemoration and reflects the Company’s commitment to safeguarding employee health and increasing awareness of endemic diseases in its operational areas.
The Health Talk featured dr. Greace Sylvana Maipauw, S.E., S.H., a physician from Mutiara Sorong Hospital, as the keynote speaker. During the session, she delivered a comprehensive presentation on malaria as an infectious disease caused by Plasmodium parasites transmitted through Anopheles mosquito bites. The discussion covered types of malaria, risk factors, clinical manifestations, and appropriate medical management.
In her presentation, it was highlighted that Papua remains the region with the highest malaria endemicity in Indonesia. Recent data indicate that the number of confirmed malaria cases nationwide, including in the Sorong area, remains significant. This condition underscores the importance of continuous education, early prevention, and accurate understanding of malaria, particularly for workers operating in endemic regions.
Through this Health Talk, Maxpower emphasized the importance of consistently implementing malaria prevention measures, including environmental control, the use of personal protective measures against mosquito bites, and strict adherence to medical treatment as prescribed by healthcare professionals. The initiative also aligns with the Company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen occupational health and safety practices across all operational sites.
